The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq close for New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. They're open on Columbus Day and Veterans Day, and close at 1:00 pm Eastern on the day after Thanksgiving and on some days before Independence Day and Christmas.

Do private employers have to give federal holidays off?
