How many working days are in a year?
In the US, 2026 has 250 working days and 2027 has 249. It's Monday to Friday minus the federal holidays that fall on a weekday, so over the next twenty years it's always between 249 and 251.

How many working days are in a year?
Between 249 and 251 in the US. 2026 has 250 and 2027 has 249: 260 or 261 weekdays (262 in a leap year that starts Monday to Thursday) minus the federal holidays that land on one.
How many working days are in a month?
20.8 on average. A month has 20 to 23 weekdays, and a month with a federal holiday loses one, so most months have 20, 21 or 22 working days.
How many working hours are in a year?
About 2,000: 250 days at eight hours is 2,000 hours in 2026, and 1,992 in 2027. Payroll often uses 2,080, which is 52 weeks of 40 hours with no holidays taken out.
Do working days count holidays?
No. Working days, or business days, are the weekdays that aren't holidays. In the US that usually means leaving out the 11 federal holidays; your employer may close on a few more, like the day after Thanksgiving.
How do I count working days between two dates?
Count the weekdays from the first date to the last, then take away the holidays that fall on them. The calculator on this page does it for US federal holidays, UK bank holidays or Ontario's, and counts both dates.
