Release planning
Plan releases around vacations, not the other way around.
Put your release dates on the same calendar as your team's vacations, on-call weeks and project work. Forgot warns you when someone is out on release day and shows who's free to cover, while the date is still easy to move.
One-time payment, no subscription. 20 of 20 left at $9, then $19.
Open a live example: Mobile 4.0 launchThe date gets set in planning. The PTO shows up the week before.
Your sprint plan assumes everyone will be there. The backend lead's trip came up in standup a month ago, the on-call rotation lives in a spreadsheet, and the release date is in a Slack thread. Nobody puts them together until release week.
Forgot keeps all of it on one calendar, so you see the clash the moment you add the date.
How it works
Add the release date, see who's out that day.
See who's away, who's on call, who's on which project and who's free. For anyone away, you see when they're back, like “Back Mon, Oct 19.” If someone is out, the day shows a warning with their name.
Is it a fit? Honest answer.
Forgot is a good fit if
- You set release or sprint dates for a team of 5 to 50 people
- Vacations, on-call and project work live in different places today
- You want a warning with a name on it, not a report
Look elsewhere if
- You need capacity in hours or story points (a resource planner or Jira does that)
- You need leave requests, approvals or PTO balances (that's an HR tool)
Questions
How do I add a release date?
Click the day and add a milestone, like “Release 4.2.” From then on, if anyone is away that day, the calendar shows a warning: “Ryan Brooks is away on Release day.”
Does it calculate sprint capacity?
No. It shows who's out, on call or busy on each day, and names anyone who's away on a release day. It doesn't count hours or story points.
Does it connect to Jira, Linear or Google Calendar?
No. You add release dates and time off yourself, with a click and a drag. The upside: nobody on your team has to connect an account or change how they ask for time off.
What counts as “out”?
Any type that counts as away: Away, Sick, Holiday, Conference and Team building to start with. You can rename types, add your own and choose which ones count as away.
