A hybrid work schedule that gets the right people in together.

Set how many office days people work, the anchor days everyone shares and how many desks you have. The template spreads everyone's other days so the office fills evenly, and shows who's in on each day.

The common hybrid patterns, and when each works.

  • Fixed days

Everyone in on the same days, like Tuesday to Thursday. Simple, and the office is busy when you're there, but it's crowded mid-week and empty on Monday and Friday.

  • Anchor days

One or two days the whole team is in, plus days each person picks. The most popular pattern: guaranteed overlap without fixing everything.

  • Team days

Each team picks its own days, so the office isn't packed on the same days. Works well in larger offices with shared desks.

  • Flexible

People come in when they want, sometimes with a monthly minimum. Easy to like, hard to coordinate: you'll need to see who's in each day.

Picking anchor days people will actually come in for.

Pick anchor days for the work that's better together: planning, reviews, pairing, workshops, a team lunch. Tuesday and Wednesday are the most common. Avoid Monday and Friday as anchors, since they're the days most often lost to holidays and long weekends.

Put recurring in-person events on anchor days so they're worth the commute, and check time off before you plan one. An anchor day with three people on vacation is a long trip to a quiet office. If someone on the team is fully remote, run anchor-day meetings so they can take part properly.

Wondering what other companies require? Many large employers have moved from three days to four or five since 2024: the return to office tracker has the rule at each one. If you're planning a four-day week instead, the same idea works for staggered days off.

A schedule says who should be in. The calendar says who is.

Put your schedule on the live board with the button above, then add time off: office days, remote days and vacations on the same rows, so a planning day with half the team away is obvious before anyone commutes in.

Questions

What is a hybrid work schedule?

A schedule that splits the week between the office and working from home, usually with a set number of office days a week and some days when the whole team is in.

What is the most common hybrid schedule?

Three office days a week, often with two anchor days like Tuesday and Wednesday when everyone is in, and one day each person picks.

What are anchor days?

Days the whole team is in the office at the same time, so the people who work together actually see each other. Tuesday and Wednesday are the most common because they're least often lost to holidays and long weekends.

How do you schedule a hybrid team with limited desks?

Keep anchor days to what the desks allow, and spread everyone's other office days across the quieter weekdays. The template balances flex days for you and flags any day with more people than desks.

Should hybrid flex days rotate?

Rotating flex days week to week spreads Mondays and Fridays fairly and helps people overlap with different teammates. Fixed days are simpler for childcare and commuting. Pick one and say which.
