As the year winds down, I want to thank each of you for everything you brought to this team in 2026. The wins were great, but what I'll remember is how you showed up for each other. Whatever you celebrate, I hope the holidays bring you rest, warmth and time with the people you love. See you in 2027.

What makes a holiday message feel personal.
- 01
Say one specific thing
"Thanks for getting the launch out" lands better than "thanks for your hard work". One real detail beats three adjectives.
- 02
"Happy holidays" fits everyone
For a team-wide or client message, it covers every celebration. Save "Merry Christmas" for people you know celebrate it.
- 03
Short is kind
Two or three sentences in Slack, a few more in an email. People read it on their phone between other messages.
- 04
Tell people to log off
From a manager, "please don't check Slack" is the most welcome line of all. Mean it, and don't message them over the break.
For team leads
Your message says โsee you in Januaryโ. Who's around until then?
The weeks around the holidays are when half the team is out and nobody knows which half. Forgot puts everyone's time off, public holidays in every country and your release dates on one calendar, so you know who's covering before you log off.
- Send one link and your team adds their days off, no sign-up for them
- Public holidays for every office, so a day off in London doesn't surprise New York
- A morning Slack post with who's out today

Questions
What should I write in a holiday message to employees?
Thank people for the year, ideally with one specific thing the team did, wish them a good break, and tell them to really switch off. Keep it to a few sentences. "Happy holidays" works for everyone; add "see you in the New Year" if the company closes.
Should I say Merry Christmas or Happy holidays at work?
For a message to the whole team or to clients, "Happy holidays" or "Season's greetings" is the safe choice, because it covers every celebration. If you know the person celebrates Christmas, "Merry Christmas" is warm and fine.
When should I send a holiday message to my team?
On the last working day before the break, in the morning, so people see it before they log off. For clients, the second or third week of December, before inboxes fill with out-of-office replies.
Is a Slack message enough, or should I send an email?
For your own team, a Slack or Teams post is perfect: people can react and reply. For a whole company or for clients, an email or a card feels more considered. The generator gives you all three from the same answers.
How do I make a holiday message less generic?
Add one sentence about something that happened this year: a launch, a hard quarter, a new person joining. Then sign with your own name, not "Management".
Is anything I type saved or sent?
No. The messages are written by hand and filled in in your browser. Your name and company are remembered on this device so next time is quicker, and nothing is sent to us.
