Say one specific thing
"Thanks for getting the launch out" lands better than "thanks for your hard work". One real detail beats three adjectives.
"Happy holidays" fits everyone
For a team-wide or client message, it covers every celebration. Save "Merry Christmas" for people you know celebrate it.
Short is kind
Two or three sentences in Slack, a few more in an email. People read it on their phone between other messages.
Tell people to log off
From a manager, "please don't check Slack" is the most welcome line of all. Mean it, and don't message them over the break.
For team leads
