Team holidays 2027
Golden Week 2027: Thursday April 29 to Wednesday May 5, 2027.
Golden Week is the run of national holidays in Japan at the turn of April and May. In 2027 it's Shōwa Day on Thursday April 29, then Constitution Day, Greenery Day and Children's Day from Monday May 3 to Wednesday May 5.
With April 30 and the weekend in between, many people take Friday April 30 off and stop from April 29 to May 5: seven days off for one day of leave. For a team with people or partners in Japan, that week is effectively gone.
Days off, country by country.
The public holidays each country gives for it in 2027, and how many weekdays a team there loses. Many people take extra days around them.

Japan's Golden Week is four national holidays close together: Shōwa Day on April 29, Constitution Day on May 3, Greenery Day on May 4 and Children's Day on May 5. Many companies close for the whole stretch.
What it means for your team.
Expect almost no one in Japan to be working from April 29 to May 5, and expect travel to be busy and expensive. Many Japanese companies close for the whole week.
China has its own Golden Week around National Day, from October 1 to 7, which is just as quiet for teams and vendors there.
Plan the week out
Don't schedule anything that needs your Japan team from April 29 to May 5.
Book early
