AT&T return to office policy5 days a week.
Since a phased rollout that began in January 2025, AT&T has required U.S. office and management employees to work on-site five days a week at designated hubs, replacing a three-day hybrid rule. CEO John Stankey defended the policy in an August 2025 memo and did not reverse it in December 2025.

What the policy says.
- In the technology organization, moves to job sites began 2025-01-06 and were to be mostly complete by 2025-03-03 (CTO Jeremy Legg memo, Dallas Morning News).
- Work is consolidated in nine hubs: Dallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Ramon, Seattle, St. Louis, Washington D.C., Middletown NJ and Bedminster NJ; staff far from a hub had to relocate or leave.
- A spokesperson said 'there is no universal policy for all employees' and that it varies by organization and location.
- Stankey's August 2025 memo said people wanting a 'self-directed, virtual, or hybrid' schedule will have 'a difficult time aligning' with company priorities, and that the company analyzes aggregated behavior data.
- In December 2025 Stankey said he regretted the memo's timing and handling but kept the policy.
- On 2026-01-05 AT&T announced it will move its HQ from downtown Dallas to Plano, Texas, with partial occupancy targeted for 2028.
