What the policy says.
- May 2024: staff in smaller offices in Dallas, Atlanta and Toronto, and most remote workers, were told to relocate to the main hubs. Hundreds of corporate jobs were cut at the same time (WSJ, Bloomberg).
- Employees had to say by July 1, 2024 whether they would relocate and had to make the move by Oct. 31, 2024. Those who did not relocate left the company between August 2024 and January 2025 (Bloomberg via Entrepreneur).
- Chief People Officer Donna Morris said the majority of employees were choosing to return to the office (Bloomberg via Entrepreneur, Aug. 2024).
- Sam's Club CTO Cheryl Ainoa left rather than move to Arkansas (Bloomberg via Entrepreneur, Oct. 2024).
- Walmart's careers site names three corporate hubs: Northwest Arkansas, Sunnyvale and Hoboken. The new Bentonville Home Office campus opened in January 2025.
- No reporting found on badge tracking or a link between attendance and performance reviews.
