Set it in Slack on desktop
- 1Click your profile picture, then Update your status.
- 2Click the smiley to pick an emoji, then type or paste your status.
- 3Under Clear after, pick when it goes away. For time off, choose Choose date and time and pick the morning you're back.
- 4Click Save. For time off, also pick Pause notifications from the same menu.
Set it on your phone
- 1Tap You at the bottom right.
- 2Tap Update your status.
- 3Pick an emoji, type or paste your status, and set Clear after.
- 4Tap Save.
Set it in Teams
- 1Click your profile picture at the top right, then Set status message.
- 2Type or paste your message. Emoji work in the text.
- 3Turn on Show when people message me, so people see it as they start a chat.
- 4Under Clear status message after, pick when it goes, then click Done.

Questions
What's a funny Slack status that's still OK for work?
One where the joke is on you or the situation, not on anyone else, and that still says when you're around. "๐๏ธ Currently a person on a beach. Human again Monday" is funny and tells people when to expect you.
Is it unprofessional to have a funny Slack status?
Not in most teams. Keep it to your own channels' tone: in a company where clients share your Slack, pick the plain version of the same status.
How long can a Slack status be?
100 characters plus one emoji. Every status here fits.
Is anything I type saved or sent?
No. The statuses are written by hand and filled in in your browser. Picking a country loads its public holidays, the same list for everyone, and nothing about you is sent or stored.
