Vacation in Canada is set by each province, with federal rules for jobs like banking, telecoms and airlines. Almost everywhere the minimum is two weeks after a year with your employer, rising to three weeks later on. Vacation pay is at least 4% of your earnings in most provinces, 6% once you reach three weeks, and plenty of employers give more than the minimum.
Only five statutory holidays apply across the country: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Canada Day, Labour Day and Christmas Day. Victoria Day, Thanksgiving, Family Day, Remembrance Day, Boxing Day and the August civic holiday depend on your province, so pick yours in the planner to see a full plan.

How do I make the most of my vacation in 2027?

How much vacation do I get by law in Canada?
Two weeks after your first year in most provinces, and three in Saskatchewan. It rises to three weeks after three years in Quebec, and after five years in Ontario, BC, Alberta, Manitoba and federally regulated jobs. Your contract can give you more, never less.
Why are some holidays missing from my plan?
With no province picked, the planner only counts the five holidays every province shares. Pick your province under Where you work and it adds the rest, like Victoria Day, Thanksgiving and Family Day where they apply.
What is a bridge day?
A workday stuck between a public holiday and a weekend. Take it off and one vacation day gets you four days off in a row.
How many days off can I get with 15 vacation days?
In 2027, around the 5 holidays most people in Canada get off: 10 vacation days become 30 days off, 15 vacation days become 41 days off, 20 vacation days become 52 days off. The exact number depends on the kind of breaks you pick and the holidays your employer gives.
What if my company's holidays are different?
