Annual leave in Ireland, and how public holidays work.

10
Public holidays a year, including St Brigid's Day since 2023
Good Friday
Isn't a public holiday, though many offices close
Irish law gives you four working weeks of paid annual leave a year, which is 20 days on a five-day week; many employers give 21 to 25. On top of that come 10 public holidays. For each one your employer chooses how you benefit: a paid day off on the day, a paid day off within a month, an extra day of annual leave, or an extra day's pay.
Six of the ten public holidays are usually Mondays: Easter Monday, the first Mondays of May, June and August, the last Monday of October, and St Brigid's Day, which is the first Monday of February unless 1 February is a Friday. Long weekends come built in, so the bridges worth spending leave on are around St Patrick's Day and Christmas.

Questions
How do I make the most of my annual leave in 2027?
Spend days of leave on the workdays between a holiday and a weekend, so each one unlocks days you'd have off anyway. The best deals in Ireland in 2027: St. Patrick’s Day week, Mar 13 – 21 (9 days off for 4 days of leave); Last Monday in October week, Oct 23 – 31 (9 days off for 4 days of leave); Christmas & New Year week, Dec 25 – Jan 2 (9 days off for 4 days of leave). The planner above finds every one of these for your allowance and puts them on your calendar.
Is Good Friday a public holiday in Ireland?
No. Many businesses close, but you're not entitled to the day off. The planner leaves it off; switch it on under Holidays and weekend if your employer closes.
What if a public holiday falls on my day off?
Full-time employees still get the benefit, usually an extra day of leave or a day's pay. Part-time employees qualify if they worked at least 40 hours in the five weeks before the holiday.
What is a bridge day?
A workday stuck between a public holiday and a weekend. Take it off and one day of leave gets you four days off in a row.
How many days off can I get with 21 days of leave?
In 2027, around the 10 holidays most people in Ireland get off: 10 days of leave become 33 days off, 21 days of leave become 60 days off, 26 days of leave become 75 days off. The exact number depends on the kind of breaks you pick and the holidays your employer gives.
What if my company's holidays are different?
Open "Holidays and weekend" to switch holidays on or off, or change which days are your weekend. Click any workday on the calendar to mark a day you already have off, like a company holiday or a shutdown week.
Is my plan saved anywhere?
Nothing is stored and there's no sign-up. The plan lives in the link in your address bar: bookmark it, or share it and whoever opens it sees the same plan.
Can I plan time off for my whole team?
This planner is for one person's year. If you manage a team, Forgot puts everyone's time off, public holidays and release dates on one calendar, so you see when too many people are out before it's a problem. It's free for 14 days, then a one-time payment.
