What the policy says.

  • Covers about 350,000 corporate employees.
  • Exceptions are limited to 'extenuating circumstances' (for example a sick child, a home emergency or customer travel) and Remote Work Exceptions approved through an S-team leader.
  • Assigned desks returned in offices that had them before the pandemic.
  • Some offices (for example New York and Atlanta) started up to about four months late because of desk shortages. UK and Netherlands offices are reported to be more flexible.
  • Starting in 2023, some employees were told to relocate to designated 'hub' offices.
  • Dec 2025: a manager dashboard started tracking office hours over a rolling 8 weeks. It flags 'Low-Time Badgers' (median under 4 hours/day), 'Zero Badgers' and 'Unassigned Building Badgers' (Business Insider).
