What the policy says.

  • The three-day minimum for hybrid-eligible roles has been the standard since October 2022.
  • Client-facing employees (such as financial center staff and sales and trading) are in 5 days a week; senior leaders are office-based.
  • From September 2026, remote days cannot be consecutive (for example Mon-Tue, Thu-Fri or Fri-Mon). Mon/Wed or Tue/Fri pairs are allowed.
  • Stated reasons: in-person collaboration, better use of real estate, and less crowding Tuesday to Thursday.
  • In January 2024, 'letters of education' gave under-attending staff two weeks to comply or face 'further action'.
  • Employees were told of the 2026 change by letter in August 2026.
